Don't Forget the Studio Tour This Weekend

Come on over to my studio this weekend, from 10 until 6 each day for the Skagit Artists Together Studio Tour.  The gardens are blooming with flowers and art, there will be art throughout the house, and refreshments too.  Be sure to download a map and brochure at www.skagitart.com.

Open Studio!

My studio will be open as part of the Skagit Artists Together Studio Tour Saturday and Sunday, July 18 and 19 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. both days.  I will have a large selection of original paintings, prints on paper and canvas, greeting cards, 2 sizes of cutting boards, mugs, ceramic tile trivets and my new tote bags in the studio, throughout the house and garden.

Scottsdale

Very inspired. Just got back from the weekly Scottsdale Art Walk. Saw some fantastic artwork!  I've been painting outside from our RV site the last couple days.  Now can't wait to get back at it tomorrow. Working on a painting of a huge cactus that's right outside the RV. Very fun and entirely different than what I usually paint.

Anacortes Farmers Market

Just a quick note to say I will be at the Anacortes Farmer's Market, tomorrow, August 23.  I've been painting frantically to catch up after the successful Lake Chelan Arts Festival and to re-stock the Ann Hardee Gallery.  It seems my bird paintings have flown away!  I will be posting photos soon.

p.s.  Don't forget I have work at the Alderwood Bistro in Sequim through the end of the year too.

We had a great first day at the Chelan Arts Festival yesterday. It's going to be a beautiful sunny day today. If you're in the Chelan area stop by. The festival is in the Riverwalk Park. Many great artists here.

Paint Sip and Savor

We had so much fun at the first Paint, Sip and Savor class at Potluck Kitchen Studio in Anacortes.  There's another on scheduled for Friday, June 6.  Just one more spot available.  We will be once again painting wine bottles.  Jackie will provide delicious tapas to taste and wine to sip to make the evening wonderful.  Everything you need to paint a great painting is provided.  The evening is just $40 and you will go home with a painting to hang on your wall!  To register go to www.potluckkitchenstudio.com

New Year - New Directions

2014 is here and I'm looking forward to a wonderful year full of traveling, family, friends and new art.  2013 was a mixed bag for me - a circle of life type of year.  My father died on February 4, and the same day the wonderful town of Anacortes put on a parade for our 7 year old granddaughter Madelyn to celebrate the end of chemo and no more Leukemia!


This year promises great things for Madelyn with new health and energy.  And Jim and I will now have the freedom to come and go as we want with few responsibilities.  We are planning some wonderful trips that I hope will inspire me in some new directions in my art.  I've been learning some new and different techniques and plan to try adding more collage, glazes, stamping and colors to my work.  I hope to experiment with some different color palettes than I have used in the past.  Plus Jim gave me a set of pastels for Christmas that I'm itching to try out.


So, stay tuned!  Hopefully there will be some really new things to check out soon!

Wet, Cold and Productive Day

It was nasty outside today...but I got so much done!  Wish everyday was this productive! 
I finished "Dream Garden" above, another in my Circle Garden series.  Then I painted "Frenchie" who I will introduce at the Anacortes Farmer's Market Holiday Show next weekend.  I also finished up a commission.  I'm happy with it.  They asked me to change one thing, so I will do that and post later.  I also added quite a few items to my website.  Check it out.  www.terrymacdonaldart.com.
I've also been going through my paintings and changing (hopefully improving) some that have been around awhile.  Some, I'm afraid, will be painted over.  I still have more to upload, but I'm feeling the urge to paint again. 

Cards now available at Olympic Stationers

Nibbles and sips provided.  Please come.  My show will be up there all month long.  Plus, my cards will be there on an on-going basis.

Fall is almost here

Just finished my final outdoor art festival of the season (except for the Anacortes Farmers Market coming up this Saturday).  We did the Mukilteo Arts Festival for the second year in a row.  It was a soggy set-up, but the weather cleared up, we dried out, and it was a beautiful weekend.  We enjoyed the fireworks again Saturday night.  It was fun having customers from last year, visit my booth again, and purchase more art.

Tomorrow I will be hanging several pieces in the lobby of the Anacortes US Bank.  They should be there for a couple months.  I'm also heading out to San Juan Passage in the afternoon.  It's a beautiful new housing development here in Anacortes.  They purchased a couple of my paintings for their model homes last week and I will be taking by some others for consideration.  So exciting!

Ann Hardee Gallery in La Conner, where I have some work for sale has requested fall colors.  Plus I have several shows coming up this fall.  So tomorrow I will be pulling out the Quinacrdone Nickel Azo Gold, Indian Yellow, rich reds and oranges and thinking fall.  Hopefully my paint brush will cooperate and we can dream up some fall paintings.

Busy Times

Whew, what busy times lately!  Lake Chelan was a fabulous show for me.  Beautiful setting, great sales, plus a camping site almost to ourselves at the Lake Chelan Rustlers Saddle Club...just us and the horses. 

Then my daughters threw me a 62 1/2 birthday party.  SO FUN!  They did a great job.  Lots of good friends, great food, fun times.  They were planning a 60th, but it was cancelled when granddaughter Madelyn was diagnosed with leukemia.  But now that she's healthy again, they decided not to wait until I'm 65.  I'm glad they didn't!

I've been painting like crazy.  I still have several shows and events coming up, plus Ann Hardee Gallery in LaConner asked for more paintings.  Getting ready for the last outdoor festival, Mulkilteo Arts Festival, Sept. 6,7,8.  Then the Small Works show at River Gallery.  October brings a month-long show at the Apothecary Spa in the Majestic Hotel in Anacortes and at the hospital in Sedro Woolley.  November will bring Arts Alive! to LaConner.  I will have work at the LaConner Retirement and Assisted Living with Art League North, and at the Garden Club with Skagit Artists Together.  Oh, and I hope to be at the Anacortes Farmers Market September 14.

Lake Chelan

Coupeville Art Festival was last weekend.  It threatened rain, but turned out beautiful.  Good crowds and we had fun camping and meeting new vendors.  Now we are packing for Lake Chelan.  This will be a combination of a little fun, a little work.  The Lake Chelan Fine Arts Festival is Friday, Saturday, and Sunday - August 16, 17 & 18.  I've never done this one before, but we love Lake Chelan and are looking forward to a fun time, sunshine, warm weather and good sales.  If you're in the neighborhood, stop by.

Just finished a fun and successful weekend at Port Angeles Arts in Action. Now heading home to get ready for the Skagit Artists Together Small Works Show at the Depot in Anacortes this weekend.
After that will be Coupeville Arts Festival. I will be painting frantically to get ready because after Coupeville we are heading to Lake Chelan for the arts festival there. Phew!  A fun summer planned.

Now, on to Port Angeles where I will be participating in Arts in Action on the City Pier this coming Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I'm looking forward to seeing many friends. It's always fun to "come home."  Even though we didn't grow up in Port Angeles, we lived there for 35 years and we miss our friends and family from the Peninsula!  I hope to see many of you.
